As the school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible achievements of our students. This year has been filled with growth, learning, and countless memorable moments. Our students have demonstrated kindness, creativity, and a strong sense of community—there is truly so much to be proud of!
Summer Tips for Families
Summer is a great time to relax and recharge, but it also offers valuable opportunities to support your child’s growth and well-being. Here are a few tips and resources to help make the most of the season:
Keep a Routine
While summer often brings a more relaxed pace, having some daily structure can provide a sense of security for children. Aim for consistent bedtimes, meal times, and daily rhythms.
Make Time for Reading
Encourage your child to read books that interest and inspire them. The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library offers a summer reading program and other engaging activities to help prevent the "summer slide" and keep learning fun.
Stay Physically Active
Regular movement supports both mental and physical health. Try family walks, bike rides, or playtime at the park to stay active and enjoy time together.
Encourage Creativity
Set aside time for creative expression—drawing, painting, building, or crafting can help children explore their imaginations and develop new skills.
Support Mindfulness
Invite your child to continue practicing mindfulness techniques they’ve learned at school. Apps like Headspace for Kids and Smiling Mind offer simple, guided exercises to help build calm and emotional awareness.
