Can you believe it’s June?! Another great year is coming to a close at Fort Saskatchewan Elementary School library!
Here are some of the highlights:
We had an author visit from story teller Karen Gummo and illustrator Spyder Jones in the fall thanks to the annual efforts of Young Alberta Book Society as well as an excellent response from community celebrities during our October Read-In-Week in 2009.
We had two very successful book fairs this school year which raised over $1000 to go toward author visits for this coming October.
Many new books were catalogued during the year to replace outdated discards and to make sure we have the latest award winning books.
The winner for the Pizza Treat from Dairy Queen was Mrs. Thompson's afternoon kindergarten class. They thoroughly enjoyed their choice of a dilly bar or ice cream sandwich. Congratulations!
Once again there are book donations from various book publishers and about a dozen lucky students from both Div I and Div II will be taking home new books. Those students who have returned their books are eligible for these draws. Good luck to everyone!
Weeding has been taking place most of the year to ensure that all the old favourites as well as the latest novels, junior chapter and picture books and the best fact filled information books are going into our new library.
The inventory check is complete and about 98% of the library material is now accounted for. The library is being boxed up for the move and soon the doors will be closing to the old and opening to the new.
Please have a safe and fun-filled summer playing and enjoy some time reading too!
